Antique Repoussé Nativity Scene: 19th Century Spanish Sacred Wall Art

Item description & background story: 
This is a very special and rare sacred artwork from Spain. It dates back to the 19th century, meaning between 1801-1900. The frame is repoussé, which means hand tooled flexible metal that has been shaped in to an intricate design. The image portrays the nativity scene, or the birth of Jesus Christ, in Bethlehem. The actual image appears to be made of ceramic or another hard and fragile material. I have never seen something like this before and had to research it before being able to write this description. I learned more about this piece from an antiquarian here in Spain, who told me that it was from the 19th century and very rare. I really love this piece. It makes me feel small in the grand scope of history. For hundreds of years, faithful people have been dedicating their God-given artistic talent to express their devotion to Jesus. Just lovely.
