ITEM DESCRIPTION AND STORY
A deeply evocative antique Catholic rosary crucifix pair, sourced locally in southern Spain. These two silver-tone crosses were once part of a working rosary and show the gentle wear, softened edges, and patina that come only from long devotional use.
One crucifix features a traditional corpus with INRI plaque, while the second is a simpler cross form with wrapped decorative binding. Pieces like this were often retained even after a rosary broke, carried in pockets, prayer books, or drawers, sometimes passed quietly through generations. They represent everyday lived Catholic faith rather than ceremonial or altar objects.
Likely dating to the late 19th or early 20th century, these crucifixes are best understood as personal devotional items — humble, tactile, and meaningful. Ideal for collectors of religious artifacts, restoration projects, assemblage art, or anyone drawn to authentic objects of faith with history.
