DESCRIPTION

A beautiful antique Spanish orza from the pottery-making village of Lucena in Andalucía, Spain. Dating to approximately 100 years old or more, this traditional earthenware vessel was originally used for the storage of food staples such as olives, preserved meats, oil, grains, and other household provisions.

Hand-thrown and decorated in the traditional manner, the jar features a charming hand-painted olive branch motif in rich green tones against a warm cream-colored ground. The decoration appears on both sides of the vessel, allowing it to display beautifully from any angle.

With its graceful twin handles, substantial scale, and time-softened patina, this piece embodies the rustic character of southern Spain. The shape and decoration evoke the warmth of Mediterranean interiors and have a distinctly Italian countryside aesthetic while remaining authentically Andalusian in origin.
